THAT'S RUBBISH Collection
‘THAT’S RUBBISH’ collection is the final graduate collection focusing on reintroducing waste back into the production cycle. All garments are made entirely of upcycled materials including end-of-roll fabric, recycled saris, remnants, and repurposed fastenings and accessories. This series explores the idea that fashion and sustainability can co-exist and have a modern and vibrant look.

Second Hand First Collection
This collection was inspired by the idea of using garments that already exist to create a transformational collection that can be styled and layered in countless ways. All materials are sourced from local second-hand shops and curated for a trans-seasonal collection. All garments can be disassembled for easier care and disposal. The accessories have been 3D printed using filament fibers to explore the idea of using technology to create garments and accessories that produce zero waste.

Plastic for Good Micro Collection
This micro collection was made using entirely discarded materials such as Saris and old PVC tabletop covers. The bodysuits were made with end-of-roll mesh that was tea-dyed by hand to get a natural look and the applique fur details was made by applying steam and pulling apart knitting fibers that are used for knitting.

Brushstrokes Micro Collection
This micro collection was inspired by the art of painting and finding fluidity among a rigid design system. The garments are designed to be reversible, with the main fabric being hand-made as a double-bonded neoprene, and everything was created for easy dis-assembly to be conscious of disposal. All the materials that were used to make the garments were end-of-roll and remnant pieces and fastenings were donated by local alterations businesses.

Material Production
This photo series is designed to give a close up view of the up-cycling methods that were developed for the ‘THAT’S RUBBISH’ collection. The method using chiffon was intended to bring waste back into production by joining offcuts and remnants to formulate a new textile whilst using a clear thread to shape the garment to fit the body. The needling technique which is traditionally used in felting has been applied to silk satin and silk chiffon to shape the garment and give it a textured appearance.

Contemporary Tailoring Techniques
This look was made using 100% Australian wool and intended to explore traditional tailoring techniques and methods. Vibrant colors were used in the design to challenge notions of what ‘traditional tailoring’ is considered to be.

Closed Closet
The concept for this photoshoot was to encourage the idea of clothing repair instead of disposal. The aim of the context is to show that there is value and uniqueness in using materials that already exist and to remove the stigma associated with ‘remade’ clothing.
